Asha Maxey
Asha Maxey is the founder and principal designer of Asha Maía Design, an award-winning interior design studio serving Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and beyond. Known for bringing creative vision and operational expertise to comprehensive residential design, Asha draws on a professional background in purchasing, supply chain, and planning, giving her an uncommon command of the many moving parts required to carry a home from vision to realization. She specializes in interior design for full-home transformations and custom new builds, guiding the design from the earliest decisions through installation to create layered, enduring interiors designed to make everyday life richer.
Her connection to design began long before it became her profession. Growing up in Michigan, Asha developed an appreciation for craftsmanship, changing seasons, natural beauty, and homes that feel warm and lived in. She also discovered early that her surroundings had a powerful effect on how she felt, shaping a belief that remains central to her work today. The places we live have the ability to influence the way we experience our lives.
That belief is also behind Asha’s love of romanticizing everyday life. A beautiful table set for dinner, music playing in the background, candlelight at the end of the day, and morning coffee in a room you love are all part of making the everyday feel special. For Asha, these aren’t simply finishing touches. They’re part of what makes a house feel like your life belongs there.
Her approach brings that philosophy to life through interiors with layers, character, and a collected quality, balancing classic influences with contemporary elements to create homes meant to endure. At the heart of her work is the belief that when your home feels right, everyday life has a way of feeling richer.

Asha Maía Design is an award-winning interior design studio specializing in comprehensive design for full-home transformations and custom new builds throughout Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and beyond.
We believe the most compelling homes are shaped by a clear vision carried throughout. Our work blends classic and contemporary design to create enduring interiors that feel layered and collected, with richness and character woven throughout.
From the earliest design decisions through installation, we consider the home as a whole, bringing continuity to the architecture, interiors, and final layers that make it personal. We work closely with builders, trades, and artisans throughout the process, while keeping the interior design vision clear and cohesive.
We take on a select number of projects each year, allowing us to give each home the attention, creative energy, and involvement that comprehensive design requires. The result is a home that feels distinctly yours and made to be lived in for years to come.

Teddi keeps the business behind the beautiful spaces running smoothly, from people and processes to vendor relationships. Behind the scenes, you’ll find her refining a process, handling the fine print, and making the complicated look easy.

Studio Coordinator
Tammy keeps the studio organized, the day-to-day details moving for, and the beautiful chaos under control. Around the studio, you’ll find her connecting the dots, anticipating what comes next, and turning “We need to…” into “Already done.”
